Long time since I updated in the form of a journal but I went ahead and made a Facebook page for my art work! If you follow me on DA and if you like my art, then go ahead and give me a "like" and I'd love it! I post more updates on my page and have a much larger variety of my work on there than what is on here. That is also the main way in which I will take commissions, should you be wanting one!

Facebook.com/AlexAlcanterArt

However, if you are not so much a Facebook person, there is also my Tumblr blog that has been changed into an art blog.

gigan91.tumblr.com

Either way, I'd love it! I've been boosting my productiveness in drawing and drawing every day and keeping up with constant updates! Thanks again to any followers that take the time to read this, tis very much appreciated! :D

Alrighty, so now that Naka Kon is officially over, I am pleased to say that the artist alley table was a complete success! So anywho, now that I've got that out of the way, I'm going to be opening myself to some commissions on my DA page!

I'll make an official price listing within the next couple of days to go up, but here is generally how I price stuff.

Pencil Sketches - $5

Inked Lineart - $15

Digital Painting - $15-30 (depending on the subject and complexity)

Digitally Colored Lineart - $20-30

Anywho, that's all for now! But I'll make sure to post more once I can and upload pictures of my cosplay as well!

Naka Kon 2013!

2 min read
Alrighty, so it has been a while and I have been absolutely busy lately trying to get ready for the upcoming convention! For starters, my cosplay of Dragonslayer Ornstein from Dark Souls has been completed! I don't intend to upload pictures right away since I do not have the best camera at my disposal and would much rather wait for the chance to get a high quality picture around the time of the convention. Speaking of Naka Kon, it's this weekend! I will be debuting my Ornstein cosplay as well as my art table with :iconotter-faerie: and :iconsylvestis: ! Our table is know as Kaiju Cupcakes! We'll have all kinds of stuff there like prints, stickers and such and open commissions. Speaking of commissions, once this is all over and done with, I intend to open up commissions on here, so I'm looking forward to that as well!

But yeah, that's it for the update, if you live in the Kansas City area and are attending Naka Kon, then you should definitely make sure to stop by and check out our art table!

Yeah, it has been far too long since I've uploaded anything, mainly because I've just been so damn busy as of late! With school and work, I find it hard to push myself to get into the swing of things. Especially when I want to mainly color some of my works digitally, but even taking one step near photoshop makes me feel exhausted. So lately I've just been doing lots of traditional work with pencil and ink. I know it may not be as much of a 'spectacle' as some of my digital works, but yeah, I haven't stopped altogether just yet! I've got a Cthulhu drawing I've been working on, another Godzilla, the Gigan fan comic which needs to be colored and a few other sketches here and there that I just did for fun. I also have an Evangelion themed portrait I'm doing for one of my friends and that is certainly proving to be quite the challenge, it should've been done weeks ago, but again, my busy schedule is getting the best of me. :(  I know I should really take the time to scan my recent traditional drawings, the only excuse I have for those not being put online is due to my own laziness. :/ Sorry, I've been suffering from a lack of motivation in the past few weeks, what can I say?

In other news, still working on Ornstein Cosplay. I know I haven't really uploaded any more progress, but trust me when I say that it is getting done. I just finished up the breastplate and it just needs to be painted. Next I'm moving on to the pauldrons and the leg armor. I've also got a Joker (TDK version) costume that I'm getting ready to do for Halloween, unfortunately that is going to be a bit more costly then I would've liked.... but oh well. I can deal with it. I've done the Joker before several years ago and it was a blast, so I'm hoping to really top myself this time around, I'm always all about improving myself and upping my game, so we'll definitely see how it all turns out in the end! But yeah, Ornstein, it's getting done. I'm going to need to purchase some chain mail and fabric here pretty soon not to mention starting to work on his Dragonslayer Spear. That bastard is going to have to be 7 feet long! O___O

But I can do it. Because I'm going to have to. Why would I even bother cosplaying Ornstein if I didn't make the spear? It would be like dressing up as Freddy Krueger and forgetting to put on his razor glove. It would just be lame as all hell.

In conclusion though: I am not dead. I am still drawing. I've just been busy. Still working on costume stuff as well as drawings. I'm going to be uploading some more stuff pretty soon... hopefully... yeah. And that pretty much covers it.

Alright, I know that I haven't posted anything in forever, and I want people to know that this is not due to a case of artist block or laziness. I just have a lot on my plate as of now and my computer has decided to be a bit of a butt. As of now, I have 3 major projects that I'm currently working on. The first of which is a portrait of one of my friends and her horse, it's proving to be just as much of a challenge as I expected, so I've been taking my absolute time on it to make sure that it turns out well. And I'm also experimenting a bit with a few new techniques with it just so I can see what kind of results I can bring about in it. My second project is a mock Legacy of Kain comic book cover that I've done via digital inking. This one is taking some time as well, but it should be finished fairly soon so I can bring back my full attention to the portrait. The computer has been unable to handle photoshop as of late, but I think it should be fine from here on out since we last had it checked out. At least I hope so.

And then there comes my final project which is actually my next cosplay. I'm going to be cosplaying a great Dragonslayer. And if you've played the game Dark Souls, you know damn well of whom I speak. Dragonslayer Ornstein. I've been working on the helmet and it's about 90% finished, simply needs the neck area added on, a few more touchups and it will be ready for painting! After that, I just need to worry about his plume of read hair, which I will likely get much later on in the year. I'll post some pictures of what it looks like so far once I have the neck piece added on.

What's also great about this is that ever since the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition was announced for PC as well as the inclusion of Abysswalker Artorias (another of the four knights of Gwyn along with Ornstein), he's decided that he is going to be cosplaying Artorias. Now this could be pretty damn awesome and I'm really excited to see how this all works out. It has also been announced that Hawkeye Gough was going to be an NPC in the expansion, so one must wonder if Lord's Blade Ciaran will be explained in the game at all. If we get any indication of what she looks like, I  will be hellbent to get two other people to cosplay Gough and Ciaran so we can have The Four Knights of Gwyn! This is all just wishful thinking of course, I honestly doubt we'd be able to get two other people to fill those shoes, but hey, I can dream, can't I?
